Ryan McCann and First National Real Estate Cleveland have an ongoing agreement where a portion of each sale is donated to Drug ARM, a not-for-profit organisation that offers drug awareness program and resources. In the past 12 months, the team at First National Cleveland has donated over $15,000 to Drug ARM. They have also financed 11 people, who simply couldn’t afford to fund a treatment, to go through a rehabilitation programme.
“In around 2014, I went through a rough patch in my personal life and had a huge fall from grace. An embarrassingly public wake-up call. It was a challenging time and taught me a lot about what’s really important. I’d achieved a huge amount of success in my career as a real estate agent and got carried away. Forgetting to be humble and grateful is always the worst thing you can do. [My lifestyle and a relationship breakdown] put me in a really negative place. I wasn’t happy within myself. I took a step back from my career for a short period to sort myself out.”
Turning a corner
“Gradually and with support, I worked my way through it and came out the other side… It was the hardest and best thing I’d ever done. I am forever in debt to my family, the First National team, past clients and my life coach Chris Anderson. I’m glad to be back to doing what I love. Now when I get the opportunity to sit in front of mums and dads and sell their homes, I’m so much more appreciative of the opportunities I get and it really inspires what I do and how I go about my job.”
